About Studio Kiki
A life spent making things by hand.
Born into a family of artisans.
My grandfather Filip opened a couture atelier in Stockholm in the 1930s. My grandmother Marta was a poet and artist who made intricate fabric collages, raised fourteen children, and left a thread running through all of them. Many took up creative work. I am one of them.
This photograph lives in the studio; a reminder of the creativity and wisdom passed from one generation to the next. Everything here is made by one person, and that is deliberate. Not a limit, but the whole idea.
A grandfather's atelier in Stockholm. A studio in Tel Aviv. The same hands, a different century.
Since 1999
Kiki's work has been shown and sold through pop-ups in Sweden, across Europe, and in the United States.
Each collection is small by design. The fabrics come mostly from Europe: Italian silks and brocades, fine Lycra and knits chosen for drape and feel above everything else. Sizes run generous and wide, because clothes that only fit one kind of body are not finished yet.
The same eye that chooses a fabric paints a canvas. I don't separate the two. It's all the same instinct.
Between the fabric and the canvas.
The studio in the Noga quarter is where everything happens. The clothes are cut and sewn here. The paintings are made here: gouache on paper, oil on linen, abstract and led by color.
The art and the fashion aren't separate practices. They share one instinct, one space, one pair of hands.
Paintings from the studio are available separately.
